” It’s a cookbook”! At the conclusion of” To Serve Man,” one of Rod Serling’s most memorable episodes of” Twilight Zone,” cryptographer Michael Chambers yelled to the passengers boarding an alien spaceship. That’s essentially what Pennsylvania’s Carey Law School professor Serena Mayeri is shouting about the 2024 GOP system.

The distinction is that Chambers was correct when he said aliens were eating human flesh, but Mayeri’s Fortune column is a covert entrance that Americans support liberal policies.
Hers is just one instance of leftists who acknowledge that Trump and the GOP have the upper hand in the national debate.
According to Mayeri, Trump has” presumably controlled his opportunities” on abortion and same-sex marriage only to “win aid from affluent people, centrists”. And keep in mind that Trump himself refused to sign on to a national abortion ban and that the Trump Organization was one of the first in New York to offer same-sex rewards.
( It is possible to be pro-same-sex marriage and anti-Obergefell just as it’s possible to be pro-life and against yet another breach of the Tenth Amendment. )
Poll after surveys and the last two poll processes demonstrate that the majority of Americans want the abortion debate resolved at the state level. The GOP software for this year confirms what legal liberals have been saying for a while: Roe v. Wade made pregnancy a federal matter. The same considering goes for same-sex relationship.
Aymann Ismail, a Slate contributor, stated on Tuesday that he anticipated the RNC to be “dark and strained,” but that he discovered it to be” something more entirely” upon arrival that on Monday.

” The feeling was no tense—it was nearly chipper”, he discovered. ” When in, I was afterwards surprised by the excitement of the many conventiongoers. Attendees gleefully rushed toward the market and secured a spot in line to enter and escape the heat with red hats on top of their smiling faces as they sprinted toward it in a collection.
How could it be that Unhappy Cheeto Hitler’s followers were so enthusiastic two days after his enemy’s bullet hardly missed splattering his brains on the members of his totalitarian cult?
Could the usual Republican’s Angry White Male perspective or the MAGA stereotype be in some way distorted? Had conservativism be based on a forward-looking, positive view of the world?
Unfortunately, these are concerns Ismail did n’t examine, much less solution. A pity, also— he may have written a little deeper, significantly more important column.
But for sheer schadenfreude, you ca n’t beat Presidentish Joe Biden’s tacit admission of his ( and his party’s ) heated rhetoric in his Monday interview with NBC’s Lester Holt.
In case you missed Matt Margolis’s whole writeup from Monday evening, here’s the flesh of the problem:
Have you taken a step back and done some soul-searching on statements that might incite people who are n’t balanced, asks NBC to Biden?

Why do Biden, the same person who infamously addressed the nation’s renowned Nuremberg Rally speech two years ago and painted the rest of the country as fascists, instantly reject his personal rhetoric? If Trump is a fascist ( and his followers, to ), that’s an explanation Biden should be proud of.
Instead, Biden made a decision to reject the very language that he and his supporters dropped 36 hours after the intended death, before returning to Literally HitlerTM Mode.

Trump addresses a convention hall full of” jubilant” partygoers on Wednesday night’s acceptance speech to sell a policy agenda that Americans love. He enters as a Reaganesque happy warrior.
Liberals are aware of it.
