Sikh Republican Harmeet Dhillon who offered ‘Ardas’ prayer at Republican National Convention on Tuesday was trolled on social media for praying “to a foreign god”. The backlash came after a part of the prayer said that “there’s only one God”.
The Republican responded,” Blocking quite a few folks,” in a post.
She had even expressed gratitude in her prayer for saving Trump’s lifestyle.
Calling it a “blasphemy”, an X person named George wrote on X,” ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!! There is only one true God we beg to, and Harmeet Dhillon’s brand is not what she said, so I have nothing but respect for her. His only surviving Son, Jesus Christ, is His title, Yahweh.
In an appointment with the New York Post, Dhillon expressed gratitude for the encouraging response she received, saying,” Nevertheless, while the voices of enemies can be amplified deliberately online, I would suggest the majority of the response by mainstream Republicans has been good, and I’m glad for that.”
Dhillon was also backed by a number of people who claimed the hatred he faces is” completely irreplaceable.”
” America has always respected minority faith groups, provided that they acquit themselves as good citizens and respect the majority’s religion,” Christopher F. Rufo said on X.
Dhillon added that the RNC delegations had granted her permission to say the prayer.
” Do not portray me as a victim. Yes, there are definitely some negative online comments, but Trump campaign delegates and members of the RNC approved of me saying this prayer, Dhillon said.
” We ran the script by them, and no one has expressed regret for that”, she added.
