After eating” very spicy” potato chips, 14 high school students in Japan were taken to the hospital on Tuesday, according to local media.
When some of the more than 30 students at a Tokyo high class began to complain of nausea and severe discomfort around their mouths, it was reported that they were sharing the snacks during recess.
Fourteen of them were taken to the hospital, with all of them conscious but one experiencing such a condition that required their transportation on a chair, according to Fuji TV.
A male student brought the snacks to the college” only for fun,” according to the broadcaster, because he had already eaten them and found them to be” extremely spicy.”
According to media outlets including Asahi Shimbun and Fuji TV, the biscuits have the product brand” R 18+ Curry Chips.”
According to the company’s website, under-18s are “banned” from eating the biscuits, which are” so savory that they might cause you discomfort”.
A sizable amount of extremely warm chilli known as “ghost chilli” is used as ingredients, the company says on its site.
Those with high blood pressure and poor stomach “are completely prohibited” from taking wounds, and those who are “timid and have no nerve” are also discouraged, the site warns.
When contacted, Tokyo Emergency Services, the institution, and the device manufacturer could not be reached for comment right away.
