US President Joe Biden, 81, has once again made headlines for the gaffe he made during an interview with Black Entertainment Television ( BET ) on Wednesday, where he discussed his administration’s record of appointing black individuals to key positions.
However, a picture from the conversation immediately went viral on social media, with critics accusing the leader of forgetting his secretary of defense, Lloyd Austin, and rather calling him” the dark man.”
In the clip, Biden said,” It’s all about treating people with respect. For example, look at the heat I’m getting because I named a, uh, the secretary of defence, ]unintelligible ] black man”. He then continued,” I named Ketanji Brown, I mean, because of the people I’ve named”, referring to Supreme Court associate justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
The confusion in Biden’s speech led to varying views, with some people on social media platforms like X, criticising the government’s note.
One user questioned how Biden’s supporters would defend the statement, while another claimed that a president who ca n’t remember his secretary of defense’s name and instead refers to him as” the black man” is mentally ill to handle the 5, 000 nuclear weapons issue.
” Let’s see how the Biden dead-enders flip this one”, one person said.
The Republican National Committee’s research team also shared the picture with a squeamish-faced icon.
However, some argued that the popular clip was being misinterpreted, suggesting that Biden might have said” the secretary of defence, a dark man” more than” the dark man”, and that the context of his speech was to list his dark officials.
