A high-ranking chief in Hezbollah’s wealthy Radwan causes, Habib Maatouk, was killed in an Israeli attack on southern Lebanon, according to two protection sources on Thursday. Maatouk had just taken over from Ali Ahmed Hassin, who was also killed in an Israeli attack in April.
One of the several strikes on Safad El Battikh and Jmaijmeh, which killed Maatouk, occurred in the nearby border settlements. Eighteen wounded persons were taken to the local Tebnine state doctor, as reported by its chairman, Mohammed Hamadi, to Reuters.
Nevertheless, it was unclear whether the wounded were citizens or soldiers at the time of the incident.
Hezbollah’s leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah made the warning in a statement on Wednesday that if more citizens were targeted, the team may expand the scope of its attacks in Israel.
Hamas reported earlier on Thursday that a Hezbollah part was killed in a separate Jewish attack in the southeastern area of Jbal El Botm and that one of their officers had been killed in an Jewish attack in Lebanon’s West Bekaa. Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel throughout the day with lots of missiles and rockets, including for the first time on the Filon foundation in Israel’s Safed.
Israel’s military offensive in Gaza was started when Hezbollah declared a” help before” with Palestinians immediately after its ally Hamas attacked southern Israeli border populations on October 7.
More than 100 citizens and over 300 Hezbollah soldiers have died as a result of the battle in Lebanon, according to a Reuters report from the country’s border towns and villages, close to the levels seen in the Israel-Lebanon war in 2006.
In recent weeks, foreign observers have been growing concerned that Israel might increase its military presence in Lebanon, which could spark a second world war. No decision has yet been made despite Israel’s declaration that it is making the necessary arrangements for a larger operation. Hezbollah, on the other hand, has declared that it does not need battle with Israel but is prepared for it if required.
