NEW YORK: Donald Trump’s plan released an update on the former mayor’s health Saturday, one year after he survived an attempted assassination at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Ronny Jackson, a steadfast admirer who served as Trump’s White House doctor, provides new details in the letter regarding the nature of the GOP nominee’s accidents and the treatment he received right away following the attack.
Since the shooting, which likewise left one rally-goer dead and two others hurt, the former president’s problem has been fully documented in this account.
According to Jackson, Trump was shot in the right ear, which came “less than a quarter of an inch from entering his nose, and struck the bottom of his proper ear.”
He claimed that the gun track “produced a 2 centimeters wide wound that ran down to the fleshy area of the ear.” Initial signs of major bleeding were followed by pronounced swelling throughout the upper ear.
While the scar “is beginning to granulate and heal properly” and the swelling has decreased, he claimed Trump is also experiencing continuous bleeding, necessitating the outfitting that was displayed at last year’s Republican National Convention.
” Given the wide and harsh character of the scar itself, no stitches were required”, Jackson wrote.
Trump received initial care from Butler Memorial Hospital’s medical personnel. Jackson claims that physicians “provided a complete analysis for more injuries, including a CT of his mind.”
Trump, he said,” will have more assessments, including a detailed hearing test, as needed. According to the doctors who first evaluated him, he did follow up with his primary care physician, as instructed by them.
” In summary, former President Trump is doing well, and he is recovering as expected from the bullet wound sustained last Saturday day”, he added.
Jackson said in the notice that, as Trump’s former physician, he was nervous and traveled to Bedminster, New Jersey, where Trump had flown later Saturday after he returned from Pennsylvania,” to physically check on him, and give my help in any way possible”.
He said he has been with Trump since that time, evaluating and treating his wound regularly, and may be with Trump through the trip, including traveling to Michigan, where Trump held his first protest since the killing, joined by his new running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. At Saturday’s march, the white cloth on Trump’s hearing was replaced by a skin-colored tape.
According to a collection from the state health department, Jackson appears to be licensed to practice medication in Florida. Additionally, documents from the American Board of Emergency Medicine indicate that Jackson holds an EMT documentation that will be valid until the end of 2025.
When questioned about the position of his passport, a representative for the congressman did not respond right away, and the Trump campaign did not respond to inquiries right away.
Jackson has come under significant attention. Trump was praised for his “incredibly great genes” and suggested that “he may live to be 200 years old” after getting real with him in 2018 and getting a “very healthy diet” in 2018.
The Inspector General of the Department of Defense released a damning report on his behavior as a top White House physician in 2001. It discovered Jackson had made” physical and denigrating” remarks about a female subordinate, had a policy against drinking alcohol while traveling as a presidential candidate, and took prescription sleeping medication that raised concerns among his acquaintances about being able to provide medical care in a proper manner.
Jackson denied the allegations, claiming he was the victim of a “political reach work” because of his close ties to the original Republican president.
Last month, Trump’s campaign released a letter on President Joe Biden’s 81st birthday from Dr. Bruce A. Aronwald, a New Jersey doctors, who said he had been the former president’s doctor since 2021.
In the weeks following the attack, Trump’s plan and federal law enforcement had much information to share with the doctors who treated him there. They instead chose to keep track of his health.
After a would-be assassin shot and gravely wounded President Ronald Reagan in 1981, the Washington, D. C., medical where he was treated gave standard, detailed people updates about his situation and care.
Trauma doctors Babak Sarani said the information in the email was “exactly in line with what you would expect from a gun wound,” adding that he has been treating more individuals with wounds caused by AR-15-style assault rifles.
Although the indirect damage is typically minor, he claimed, the risk of extensive damage is greater than if another gun were used.
” If a bullet whizzes by your ear from a low-caliber handgun, it’s not a big deal…. You get a headache or feel dizzy like a bad concussion”, said Sarani, chief of trauma at George Washington Hospital in Washington, D. C.” But if the bullet is from an assault rifle, the energy is bigger, broader, and you’re more likely to develop bruises”.
He added, “in Trump’s case, he got very lucky. The air was the source of the majority of the energy. If it had hit him in the head, we would be having a completely different conversation”.
The AR-15-style rifle used by the shooter travels at a rate of over 2, 000 miles per hour, according to former Secret Service agent Rich Staropoli, which means that only the air pressure as it passes can cause significant damage.
Staropoli compared Trump to the fact that” the shock wave alone could have ripped his ear off.” ” It’s amazing the bullet nipped him” and did n’t do any other damage.
” It’s a one in a billion type of thing”, he added. A fraction of a millimeter closer,” and this would be a different story. The thin line between merely a nick and severe bodily harm is truly incredible.
