Joe Biden, the president of the United States, made the announcement on Sunday that he would not run for president again in November.
Biden, 81, made the announcement via an open letter to the American citizens, followed by a statement expressing his full support for his 59-year-old going partner, Kamala Harris. His resignation comes as senior party leaders are under increasing pressure following his deft conversation effectiveness against former president Donald Trump last quarter.
My own Democrats, I have chosen to reject the election and concentrate my efforts on my responsibilities as president for the duration of my term, Biden wrote in his letter. Kamala Harris was my first choice as the party nomination for 2020, according to my very first choice. And it’s been the best choice I’ve made”.
The President’s selection comes only four months before Americans vote on November 5th.
Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Senate, praised Joe Biden, saying,” He is a truly remarkable person. He has not only been a wonderful leader and a great legislative head.” His choice, of course, was never easy, but he once again put his nation, his party, and our coming first. Joe, now shows you are a true soldier and wonderful American”.
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin echoed similar views, stating,” Throughout his common profession, Joe Biden often put country first. His four years as chairman made it abundantly clear that he was determined to bring our nation back on track and bring back its spirit. America will always be grateful for everything he has given to this nation. A prospect who is beat Donald Trump and stay America moving in the right direction must now be supported by the Democratic Party. I’ll do everything in my power to support that energy.
Republican Senator Rick Scott, however, criticized Biden’s decision, saying,” Let me be clear, if Joe Biden ca n’t run for reelection, he is not capable of serving as president for the next six months and needs to resign today. Kamala Harris, among those close to Joe Biden, lied to the American people for four years to keep their energy and knew he was hardly fit for the presidency. It became painfully apparent that Biden lacked the skills to run for office going up to 2021.
The outcome of the information that one of America’s most dangerous presidents will not be able to hold a second term, according to Scott, “does not much about the stakes of this election. We must not permit California socialism to take the place of the American dream. Come November, we may defeat the Democrats, choose Donald J. Trump, taking up the Senate and the House, and keep our region”.
Biden’s choice to withdraw from the race comes as his wellness is clearly deteriorating. After testing positive for Covid-19, the President is already isolating at his Delaware home.
