With the increase of far-right actions in Europe, conflict in Ukraine and Gaza, a more forceful China, and Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the US presidential election, there is a level of confusion surrounding global politics.
Throughout his five-decade political job, Biden built substantial relationships with various international rulers, unmatched by any possible Democratic substitutes. Following his statement, he received an outpouring of support and love for his years of service.
The significant global affect of decisions made in Washington is highlighted by the range of foreign policy issues awaiting the next US leader.
Here’s an review of some of these problems.
    Israel-Hamas
Israelis are eager to understand the repercussions of Vice President Kamala Harris ‘ election in light of Israel’s growing international isolation in the wake of its military campaign against Hamas, with her as a probable replacement for Biden.
Israel’s left-wing Haaretz paper highlighted Harris ‘ story of support for Israel, noting her position as Biden’s “bad cop”, publicly criticizing Israel’s deeds in Gaza. Lately, she has been more vocal than Biden in advocating for a cease-fire, condemning the conquest of Rafah, and expressing concern over human deaths in Gaza.
Alon Pinkas, a former Israeli president common in New York, remarked,” With Biden leaving, Israel has lost perhaps the last Zionist leader. The dynamic may change with the addition of a fresh Democratic candidate.
Biden’s robust defence of Israel, particularly since Hamas ‘ attack on October 7, stems from his long-standing help for the nation as a lawmaker, vice president, and leader. Yoav Gallant, the defence minister in Israel, thanked Biden for his “unwavering support,” especially given the ongoing issue.
Biden was hailed as a” true ally of the Jewish people” and a” symbol of the unbreakable bond between our two peoples” by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. There was no immediate comment from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, an alliance of past president Donald Trump, whose ties to Biden have been strained during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
    Russa-Ukraine
Any Democratic presidential candidate is expected to carry on Biden’s robust military support for Ukraine, despite growing ire in Europe and Ukraine over the slowness of US support and limitations on European weapons.
According to Sudha David-Wilp of the German Marshall Fund, Europeans are getting ready for Ukraine to be their top priority. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, thanked Biden for his decision to withdraw and for assisting in preventing a Russian job.
Trump has promised to end Russia’s war on Ukraine in a day if elected, raising concerns in Ukraine that Russia may preserve occupied lands. His vice presidential find, Ohio Senator JD Vance, is a vocal defender of US support for Ukraine.
Russia, however, continues to be unconcerned with the US culture, with Dmitry Peskov, a spokeswoman for the Kremlin, saying that Russia will continue to engage in Ukrainian activity regardless of the outcome.
    China
Both Trump and Biden have emphasized their military and economic standing. Biden increased tariffs on Chinese energy automobiles, while Trump promised a 60 % tax on all Chinese goods.
Trump’s” America First” plan heightened tensions with Beijing, and problems over trade, systems, and safety persisted under Biden. China’s response to the US presidential contest has been optimistic. Biden’s decision was downplayed by Xinhua, and Global Times editor Hu Xijin pointed out that the Democratic nominee does not significantly alter US-China relations, which suggests that voters are divided between Trump backers and backers.
    Iran
Iran’s intermediaries are increasingly involved in Israel-Hamas conflict, adding to volatility in the middle-east. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis late attacked Tel Aviv, triggering Jewish retribution in Yemen. Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Jewish government are at risk of escalating into a bigger issue. Hamas, with the assistance of Iran, continues its protracted conflict with Israel, which has left many people dead and people homeless in Gaza.
The US and its supporters accuse Iran of expanding its nuclear programme, with uranium enhancement nearing weapons-grade rates. Trump withdrew from the atomic deal in 2018, and Biden attempted to change this position, but he still carried out punishment and failed to restructure the deal.
Revolutionary Masoud Pezeshkian was elected president after Ebrahim Raisi’s sudden death in a plane crash. Pezeshkian aims to start up Iran to the world while still standing up for the US.
    Europe and Nato
According to his essential stance on the EU and NATO, some Europeans were happy to see Trump’s departure. Biden’s decision to leave the race revealed his support for close ties with Western leaders, in contrast. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and British Prime Minister Donald Tusk praised Biden’s decision with admiration, while British Prime Minister Simon Harris warmly praised him.
Concerns over Nato’s ability to support Ukraine and combat authoritarian governments are raised by the upcoming US national poll. The German Council on Foreign Relations ‘ Jeremy Shapiro noted popular confusion, with both excitement and concern over Biden’s choice.
