Democrats Use the Secret Service Hearing to Push Gun Control

We were concerned about how rapidly the Democrats may switch to gun control because a potential assassin tried to kill Donald Trump. We have our answer: Monday morning’s congressional hearing barely got underway when Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md. ) attributed the near-assassination of a past leader to Congress’s failure to take guns out of the hands of law-abiding people.

Raskin, who has n’t found an opportunity to grandstand that he could n’t resist, acknowledged that the Secret Service failed Trump, but he attributed just as much blame to a lack of gun control legislation. He spoke for four days about “mass murders” and how banning “weapons of war” may have stopped them.

” We ca n’t let ourselves off the hook, either, dear colleagues”, he began, his voice dripping with earnestness. What transpired in Butler, Pennsylvania, was a double failure: the Secret Service’s failure to properly protect former president Trump from legal gun violence and Congress ‘ failure to properly defend our country’s citizens. We must also consider whether our laws make it very simple for potential assassins to get firearms in general and the AR-15 in particular.

Raskin continued by putting Corey Comperatore, who lost his life in the shooting, and Trump in the” club” of mass-shooting patients. The congressman cited stats that 655 mass shootings took place in the U. S. in 2023, claiming 712 lives and around 2, 700 injuries, before making it sound like we ca n’t go anywhere without getting shot.

” Mass murders are commonplace”, Raskin said. In our primary schools, center schools, high schools, churches, churches, temples, movie theaters, rallies, bars, grocery stores, music, and on street corners, they occur.

He continued,” Mass shootings have become so frequent that we do n’t even hear about them anymore.” Of course, what he did n’t say was that we hear about them when Democrats want to grandstand about gun-grabbing.

Raskin’s melodramatic rhetoric contained that assumption, but he did n’t specifically link all these mass shootings to AR-15s. Additionally, he made a point of urging law-abiding people to buy weapons.

Before going on to the typical Democrat talking points about universal background checks and” closing gaps,” he said,” A weapon that can be used to commit a mass shooting an event under the full protection of the Secret Service, along with lots of state and local authorities, is certainly an intolerable threat to the rest of us who do not receive such protection and certainly does not belong in our areas.”

Raskin claimed that the problem with “weapons of combat” in common is that the Trump rally sniper admitted to using his family’s rifle to try to attack Trump.

” We have to find the courage and commitment to complete a moratorium on the AR-15 and another assault weaponry”, he declared. ” A moratorium has wide support. In 2019, yet the New York Post vehemently supported for a ban.

As Raskin spoke, a staffer held up a large sign with the 2019 Post cover that called for a “ban]on ] weapons of war”. I was n’t aware that the editorial board of the New York Post determines what the government of Congress considered necessary as the basis for its legislative priorities.

Raskin clumsily resumed his speech by criticizing police brutality against lawmakers. He came to the conclusion that “even as we change the Secret Service and work to boycott weapons of war like the AR-15, we also may have fallen short of our obligations if we fail to reject every occasion of politically motivated crime.” whatever form it takes”.

As the sessions have continued, the Democrats keep returning to weapons power as a tale. Paula Bolyard, the managing director of PJ Media, said that the “gun control thing is clearly coordinated” while she is watching the hearings live.

This produce of Democrats should muddy the waters with a side conversation on guns as they discuss the failing of yet another Biden administration agency. Everything must always follow the Democrats ‘ plan.
