Despite the original California president’s visit as the White House “border king” three years ago, Vice President Kamala Harris never spoke to either Border Patrol captain or the Biden administration’s top border patrol official.
Harris, who announced her party’s nomination for president on Sunday, has not spoken with Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens, who has been in the place for the past year, according to NewsNation editor Ali Bradley’s post on X on Monday.
Owens ‘ father, Raul Ortiz, who led the law enforcement agency from 2021 to 2023, told CBS in March that he “never had one talk with the leader or the evil leader” during his career.
” I was the captain of the Border Patrol, I commanded 21, 000 people. That’s a problem”, Ortiz said on “60 Minutes”.
Harris was tasked with handling the government’s response to the southern boundary issue re-ignited by President Joe Biden’s election in 2020. In March, Ortiz said that Biden was “most positively” sending “mixed information” to workers who plan to cross the border.
In an interview from March, Owens also claimed that the southern boundary has become a “national safety threat.”
” What’s keeping me up at night is the 140, 000 known got-aways”, Owens said, in reference to workers who’ve crossed the border but evaded capture by law enforcement over the 2024 fiscal year. ” If we do n’t know who is coming into our country, and we do n’t know what their intent is, that is a threat and they’re exploiting a vulnerability that’s on our border right now”.

More than 1.7 million” known got-aways” had illegally crossed the border since Biden took office, which “is higher than the 1.4 million recorded in the entire decade from 2010 to 2020”, the New York Post reported in May. When asked on the political controversy level in 2019 whether she believed politicians should legalize unlawful border crossings, then-Sen. Harris raised her hand in the affirmative.
Harris participated in the government’s distributing of the fake where federal officials were accused of “whipping” Creole migrants who crossed the border in 2021 as vice chairman overseeing the crisis on the frontier. Viral pictures of officials using animal reigns as a typical audience control measure to protect the horses and the bystanders were misinterpreted by , Democrats , and the corporate , press , as “whips” being used to overcome migrants.
” What I saw depicted about those individuals on horseback, treating human beings the way they were, is horrible. And I firmly concur with Harris ‘ assertion in the wake of the images ‘ release that it is a thorough investigation into exactly what is happening there. ” But I am deeply troubled by it because people should n’t never be treated that way,” he said.
Those images “painfully conjured up the worst elements of our nation’s ongoing battle against systemic racism,” said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who survived congressional impeachment proceedings this spring.
However, the photographer who took the photo had stated that no whips were used before Mayorkas took the podium at the White House.
” I’ve never seen them whip anyone”, Paul Ratje told , KTSM. ” He was swinging it, but it can be misconstrued when you’re looking at the picture”.
When pressed on the photographer’s contradictory testimony, Mayorkas dismissed the clarification.
” The horses have long reins, and the image in the photograph that we all saw, and that horrified the nation, raised serious questions about what … occurred, and as I stated quite clearly, it conjured up images of what has occurred in the past”, Mayorkas said.
Mayorkas allegedly knew the whipping incident was another instance of fake news smuggled by the Democrat elite before he defended the accusations against the agents who were being held accountable by the Heritage Foundation under the Freedom of Information Act in October 2022.
Mayorkas then corrected a reporter last December, more than a year after peddling the hoax himself. The DHS secretary stated from the White House press podium that” an investigation concluded that the whipping did not occur.
According to a report from The New York Post in May, a border patrol agent was given the honor of receiving the Border Patrol Achievement Award for his intelligence work on human trafficking. He was falsely accused of whipping migrants by the president himself.
Vice President Harris, however, never made an apology for participating in the smear campaign against border agents by referring to the incident as” slavery.”
