FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed on Wednesday that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the assailant who opened fire on former US President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, had looked for information online about the killing of former US President John F. Kennedy in the days leading up to the attack.
Wray, testifying before a parliamentary commission, said Crooks flew a helicopter over the place in Butler, Pennsylvania, about two days before Donald Trump took the stage on July 13.
Authorities have not as yet determined a goal for the shooting. We are digging a lot because this is one of our biggest concerns, Wray said. He added that Crooks “appears to had done a lot of queries of people images, in common” but found no clear pattern to his study.
According to the FBI director, “he became really focused on the former senator and this rally” around July 6. On July 6, citizens who registered for the campaign event in Butler conducted a Google search for” How far away was Oswald from Kennedy” referencing Kennedy’s execution by Lee Harvey Oswald. Wray remarked,” That certainly has a significant impact on his state of mind.”
Trump was able to survive the attempted assassination by sustaining a proper neck wound. A Secret Service hero shot dead the suspected shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, less than 30 hours after he fired eight pictures. ” With respect to former President Trump, there’s some problem about whether or not it’s a gun or debris that, you know, that hit his ear”, Wray said.
Two rally participants were severely wounded, and a 50-year-old Pennsylvania fire was shot useless.
The FBI producer called him a “loner” and stated that no proof has been found so far that suggests Crooks had any partners or co-conspirators.
