On Thursday, investigators asked the White House why President Joe Biden backed down on his reelection bid but did not always provide a direct answer.
” I think the president truly answered this problem”, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked for clarity on Biden’s argument. A writer interjected,” He did n’t”.
Biden made the announcement on Sunday evening on X, previously Twitter, and then delivered a Wednesday night handle from the Oval Office. Nevertheless, he did not explicitly state his grounds for pulling out of the plan.
” I think the American people think he answered the question”, Jean-Pierre asserted over the writer’s concerns. ” He said,’ I revere this business, but I love my land more.'”
She next proceeded to offer more from Biden’s 10-minute target.
The president had previously outlined a number of reasons he might withdraw from the race, including if” the Lord Almighty” ordered him to, if his health failed, or if polls suggested he could n’t win. Biden made the implied claim that he felt he could n’t win the race despite the fact that he has maintained that his health is strong.
” I believe my report as president, my authority in the world, my vision for America’s coming all merited a subsequent term”, he said. ” But little — little — can occur in the way of saving our politics, that includes specific passion. Therefore, I’ve decided to pass the light to a younger technology as the best course of action.
Jean-Pierre also addressed unity, prompting Associated Press writer Zeke Miller to inquire whether Biden believed his inclusion in the race was contentious.
” I’m not going to get into more than what the leader laid out”, Jean-Pierre said. ” I believe he explained quite clearly why he made this choice,” he said.
More than two hundred elected members of the party had already called for Biden’s impeachment before last trip, which divided Democrats over his role as the group’s regular carrier. With the exception of past president Barack Obama supporting her election, the group has reportedly come together behind Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden has also endorsed Harris, embracing her during his Wednesday night target and approving her after announcing he will step down from the race for an hour an afternoon.
” I’d like to bless our great vice president, Kamala Harris”, Biden said. ” She’s experienced. She’s hard. She’s worthy. She has been a fantastic companion to me and a head for our nation. Today the choice is up to you, the British people”.
