Following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race and support her, Vice President Kamala Harris ‘ campaign has amassed$ 200 million in donations in the first week.
In addition to the financial help, the Harris plan has also attracted the support of over 170, 000 volunteers who have pledged to assist with various voting referral initiatives like telephone banking and canvassing as the election draws near in only 100 days.
The plan released the most recent fundraising statistics on Sunday, highlighting that the majority of the funds were made after Biden’s support, with the majority coming from first-time contributors in the current vote period.
The administration’s communications director, Michael Tyler, stated in a note that” the basics of this race will be very close and determined by a small number of electors in just a few states.”
Harris was present for a charity held on Saturday in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, that had originally been planned while Biden was still on the Democratic ticket. The event, which was expected to raise$ 400, 000, ultimately brought in an impressive$ 1.4 million, according to the campaign.
Following Biden’s return from the competition, Harris quickly gained the support of prominent Democrats, including past House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, past House Minority Whip Jim Clyburn, former President Bill Clinton, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama even made an announcement regarding their support for Harris on Friday.
Harris acknowledged at her Saturday charity that despite growing support, her campaign is gaining speed.
Within the first 24 hours of Biden’s removal and support of Harris, Future Forward, the largest super PAC in Democrat politicians, announced last week that it had secured$ 150 million in pledges from sponsors.
Democrats running for president have also been affected by Harris ‘ development as the likely Democratic candidate, who have reported a rise in assistance for their own efforts.
At the side’s national convention in Chicago in the coming month, Harris will be officially nominated as the Democratic presidential nominee.
