WASHINGTON: Two tech giants, Alphabet/Google and X ( formerly Twitter ) are at the center of election interference charges in the US, drawing their leaders, Sundar Pichai and Elon Musk, into what is already an ugly and rancorous fight between Democrats and Republicans.
Elon Musk has publicly backed Trump Republicans, but the Indian-born Pichai was drawn into the conflict over the weekend when former president’s supporters discovered that Google’s Autocomplete work failed to give details about the assassination attempt on him.

Trump supporters have long accused Google of using its enormous thumb to control the election, including by censoring information about Hunter Biden, the father of President Biden’s dissolute and scandal-prone son. One critic points to Pichai’s Indian nationality ( despite him now being a citizen of the US) and charges him of having” socialist sensibilities” despite not making his political views public.
