According to South Korean lawmakers, citing data from Seoul’s National Intelligence Service ( NIS), North Korea’s failed attempt to launch a reconnaissance satellite in May may have been helped by Russia. The telescope, fitted with a new “liquid air and gas engine”, exploded minutes after reentry, raising suspicions about the origins of the technologies.
The NIS informed lawmakers that the liquid hydrogen and fuel motor had not been developed in North Korea. Lee Seong-kweun, a part of the political intelligence committee, stated,” Given that liquid gas and fuel were used in the website for the first time, they had good received Russian help”.
Russia’s involvement in North Korea’s successful launch of a surveillance telescope in November, two weeks after Kim Jong Un’s visit, was made public by the NIS. Vladimir Putin, the leader of Russia, had made a promise to assist North Korea in developing spacecraft during this visit.
Putin retaliated by making a trip to Pyongyang in June, where the two countries formally endorsed a” complete strategic partnership” agreement. While both Russia and North Korea have denied engaging in arms deals, they have vowed to boost military assistance.
Also, Lee mentioned that Kim Jong Un’s girl, Ju Ae, is being groomed to become the next president of North Korea, based on information provided by the NIS. Although the state media in North Korea has covered her public activities, there have n’t been any official announcements about her political future.
Park Sun-won, a part of the political intelligence committee, noted that the NIS claimed that Seoul’s cooperation with Washington and Seoul was unaffected by the current US accusation of Sue Mi Terry. Prior to joining the CIA and the White House National Security Council, Terry was a foreign policy specialist on charges of selling gifts and luxury goods to the South Korean government as an unregulated agent.
Park said,” The NIS said they’re working hard to learn a lesson from this. However, the two countries ‘ knowledge participation is expanding without any significant issues.
President Joe Biden and Yoon Suk Yeol have been strengthening surveillance partnerships, so the accusation came at a shocking time. Despite this function, the cooperation between the U. S. and South Korea continues to grow, as affirmed by the NIS.
