Following criticism from its developers for what some thought was an excessive show, former US President Donald Trump on Monday declared the 2024 Paris Olympic Games ‘ opening ceremony a “disgrace.”
” I’m very open-minded but I thought what they did was a disgrace”, Trump told Fox News.
His remarks followed Catholic organizations and French bishops ‘ criticism of a particular dance scene involving drag queens, dancers, and a DJ performing poses that resembled the Last Supper, despite the creators ‘ claim that it was not intended to depict the religious event. Religious organizations and far-right politicians on social media platforms reacted to the series, which sparked a global reaction.
When host Laura Ingraham questioned whether Trump would run for president in time for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Trump responded,” We wo n’t be having a Last Supper as they portrayed it last night.”
In response to the criticism, Thomas Jolly, the chairman of the starting service, later stated that his goal for the production was to “reconcile” and “repair”.
