On July 30th, unidentified militants attacked a convoy of United Nations cars traveling through the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Dera Ismail Khan, according to police reports to RFE/RL’s Radio Mashaal.
No one was injured in the event, which occurred in an area connecting Dera Ismail Khan with the surrounding Tank area, Abdul Salam Khalid, Tank authorities captain told Radio Mashaal.
” Obviously, the attackers were trying to kidnap UN employees”, said Khalid, who added that all UN staff had been carefully evacuated.
Pakistan has witnessed a boom in crime largely blamed on the Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan.
