LONDON: Former American TV broadcaster Huw Edwards, the long-time experience of BBC’s premier media program, pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of making obscene pictures of babies.
Up until he resigned in April this year as BBC’s highest-paid journalist and outlet due to allegations that he had paid a young person thousands of pounds for sexually explicit pictures, things unrelated to the legal costs.
The 62-year-old was a household name in Britain for more than two years, announcing the death of Queen Elizabeth to the state in 2022 and leading policy of votes, royal ceremonies and the 2012 Olympics. However, he has n’t appeared on television for a year, and his first public appearance on Wednesday was on March 1.
The BBC had stated in a statement that Edwards ‘ activities shocked it.
Asked if he wished to show a petition to the three claims, which related to three distinct types of obscene images, Edwards said:” Guilty”.
Judge Paul Goldspring said Edwards may become sentenced on Sept 16 and that” all alternatives”, including an instant jail sentence, may be considered. During the 25-minute reading, attorney Ian Hope said Edwards had been sent a full of 377 sexually explicit pictures by an adult man on WhatsApp, 41 of which were immoral, illegal pictures of children.
