On Wednesday, world leaders and diplomats expressed concern that Ismail Haniyeh’s suicide may spark further hostilities in the Middle East.
The US was” hardly aware of or involved in” the killing of Haniyeh, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. ” I ca n’t tell you what this means. I can tell you that the fundamental of getting a peace, the value that that has for all, remains”, he said.
China criticized the killing and warned that it would cause more hostility. According to Lin Jian, a spokeswoman for the region’s foreign ministry,” We are profoundly concerned this event may lead to increase and volatility in the region.”
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkiye, claimed the murder was intended to “interrupt the legitimate conflict of Palestinians and demoralize them.” In direct response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the US Congress last week, the Turkish Parliament had planned to sponsor Haniyeh next month.
Kremlin, which has also hosted Hamas officials, called for restraint. A spokesman for the foreign ministry said there is no denying that the death of Ismail Haniyeh will have a significant impact on how Hamas and Israel will continue to cooperate through facilitated channels.
Officials in Persian Gulf says blamed Israel for the execution, warning it may destabilise the place. The execution was characterized as a “flagrant violation of international law,” according to Oman. Jordan said Israel’s anger” may move the location toward more war and death”.
