Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States, was recently criticized by Indian-origin Republican president Vivek Ramaswamy, who claimed that she has” solid off” her Indian identity for political gain.
Ramaswamy, a reporter for Fox News, noted that Harris leaned on her Native American history when she ran for office in California, where there is a major Asian American community, but has since changed her focus from that personality to that one on the national level.
Many Indian Americans are offended by Harris ‘ perceived shift, according to Ramaswamy, whose parents also immigrated from southern India like Harris ‘ mother. He claimed that her portrayal of identity politics invites condemnation and distracts from the election’s intended goal, which is to provide a vision for the country’s future.
Ramaswamy believes Harris lacks a clear perspective for the US, and her election should be evaluated on that front rather than her ethnicity.
In the US national election campaign, Harris ‘ ethnic identification has gained ground, especially after former US president Donald Trump questioned her cultural identity, suggesting that she had only just “turned dark” after originally focusing on her American history.
Harris responded to these criticisms by claiming that the nation is at a crossroads and must choose between two distinct futures. While she and her followers are advancing, she accused Trump and his strategy of trying to reverse the country.
Kamala Harris, whose family is Indian and papa is Reggae, is the first woman of color and the first Asian British vice president. She will become the first woman to lead the United States if she wins the approaching election.
