Rebel Wilson is criticizing what she has described as a “bogus libel fit” brought by the makers of her directorial debut, who are now questioning the validity of the sexual harassment allegations Sacha Baron Cohen made.
Producers on Monday amended their first lawsuit, filed earlier this month, to criticise the 44-year-old” Ball Best” celebrity of having” a history of fabricating false and destructive lies to conceal her own lack of professionalism.
The conflict apparently stems from Wilson’s grumble over credits on both the text and audio for” The Deb”, which is now slated to include its , world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival , in September.
Despite Wilson’s pay for a complete story breaks, the American Writers Guild just afforded her an “additional composing by” credit while Hannah Reilly is listed as the film’s even screenwriter, per Variety.
In the updated lawsuit, manufacturers Vince Holden, Amanda Ghost, and Gregor Cameron cite Wilson as having sought writing payment for the music for the movie. They are represented by a group of lawyers, including Camille Vasquez, who properly represented Johnny Depp’s defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
According to Variety, which recently reported on a letter of demands written by Wilson in June, the actress “demanded that Plaintiffs provide her with a record label with an external music group ( a demand that was well beyond Plaintiff’s power to provide ).”
The producers were named in the initial lawsuit after Wilson publicly released the a , video on July 10 and attempted to stop” The Deb” from premiering at TIFF.
According to the amended complaint, Wilson “revived a fictitious story about Ms. Ghost sexually harassing a lead actor in” The Deb,” which has absolutely no basis in reality, as the actor who is the subject of the defamatory tale has repeatedly confirmed.
In her memoir,” Rebel Rising”, released in April, Wilson similarly , accused” a–hole” Sacha Baron Cohen, 52, of having , acted inappropriately toward her , during the making of” The Brothers Grimsby” in 2016. The” Borat” star denied her claims.
” The Deb” producers pointed to those “false allegations” — and the fact that the Cohen portion of the memoir was  , redacted in the U. K. and Australian versions , of the book — attempting to highlight Wilson’s history of “play]ing ] the victim in order to elicit public sympathy in the hope that it would advance her professional self-interest”.
On her , Instagram story , Tuesday afternoon, Wilson called on , billionaire Len Blavatnik , to “please stop funding and protecting Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden”.
Wilson captioned a video of herself receiving applause, presumably from the film’s crew, saying,” Clearly these recent press articles and constant retaliations against me for speaking the truth about my small Australian movie are FALSE.” ” All I did was tell the truth about these “absolute f-wits,” and now they launch a false article and defamation lawsuit to harm themselves.
