According to a statement from the South China Morning Post, some provinces in China are reducing the number of innovative teaching jobs as a result of the country’s declining community of students in recent years.
Significant declines in the country’s highly regarded and regarded as steady teaching positions contribute to the country’s previously difficult job market as it struggles to provide enough employment opportunities for its vast workforce, especially recent graduates.
This year, 4 968 innovative teaching positions will be added in Jiangxi province in eastern China, down from the previous year’s recruitment rate of 54.7 percent to 4 968. This is less than a third of the total hiring figures from two years earlier. Also, Hubei province has seen a 20 per cent decrease in professor enrollment over the same time.
The main reason for this reduction appears to be the falling range of school-aged babies, as China experiences an “ultra-low” fertility rate, with fewer than 1.4 live births per person over a lifetime.
According to the China Population and Development Research Center, the birth rate decreased from 9.02 million to 9.02 million, while the overall reproduction rate decreased to 1.09 in 2022. Jiangxi’s education department acknowledged the challenge, stating, “]The ] low fertility rate will become one of the main risks for the country’s population development”.
In response to the decreasing fertility rate, training tools must be restructured. Jiangxi officials noted the shutdown of one-fifth of colleges in the state’s rural regions with fewer than 100 learners. In contrast, main China’s Hunan province announced last year that no new kindergartens may be constructed in remote areas as a result of the decline in the number of children in kindergartens, which had fallen by 14.9 percent to 319 and 400 in 2023 from the same period last year.
According to the most recent data from the Ministry of Education, the decline in school enrollment has persisted for the second time in a column. In the previous month, the number of nurseries across the country fell to less than 275, 000, marking a decrease of 14, 800 compared to 2022. Sequentially, attendance experienced a significant decline, plummeting by 5.35 million to achieve 40.9 million.
The Guangdong Social Sciences Association’s leader, Dong Yuzheng, noted that rural areas have experienced more serious changes as a result of statistical shifts. Rural places are experiencing a significant decline in population as large and medium-sized places continue to attract people.
According to Dong, this demographic change is not only having an impact on the population density total in these areas, but also causing a noticeable decline in preschool enrollment. The movement of people from rural to urban locations has caused these communities to experience greater pressure.
