
On Tuesday, Israel launched an attack against a top Hezbollah official who was responsible for a week-end rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that left dozens of Syrian children and young people dead.
After a missile attack on Saturday that struck a Palestinian village in the Golan Heights, Lebanon has been holding its social breath for weeks.
Israel blamed Hezbollah for the assault, a command the Iran-backed party denied. A day later, Israel’s heat army said it hit seven Hezbollah target deep in Lebanon.
The Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut where Hezbollah dominates, was the scene of the attacks on Tuesday night, which appeared to be more limited and targeted a residential building close to a doctor. Residents who live close to the explosion blog reported hearing three bombs. According to the state-run National News Agency, the aircraft used to launch three missiles.
” It shook the ground. One petrol stop employee who requested anonymity claimed that it felt “really close.”
The Israeli military blasted the strike, saying it had” carried out a targeted attack on the commander accountable for the killing of the children in Majdal Shams and the killing of many more Jewish civilians.”
” Hezbollah crossed the dark line”, wrote Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. According to Jewish leaders, their target was killed.
Initial restrictions on reporters ‘ access to the site of the attack were removed, but a writer with the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar place reported that a woman had been killed and many children had been infected.
More than two hours later, save teams, concealed soldiers, and members of Hezbollah were also attempting to access the building’s rubble, which is located in an alcove close to a hair salon and pharmacist.
Pro-Hezbollah leaders, speaking on local media channels, said the operation had failed to kill its intended goal, whom Jewish outlets identified as Fuad Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin, a senior adviser to Hezbollah’s top leadership and in charge of the team’s detail missile system.
Although Hezbollah and Israel have long foes, the two have only recently engaged in sporadic exchanges of missiles. But conflicts escalated after Hamas ‘ Oct. 7 assault against Israel, and Israel’s later military offensive in Gaza. In show of support for Hamas militants, Hezbollah launched a jet plan along the Israeli-Lebanon frontier.
An almost everyday exchange of fire has taken the place of the once-dominant tense calm that once existed on the border. Both parties claim to be prepared for a full-fledged conflict, insisting instead that they do not want it.
