Khaleda Zia, a vital opposition figure in jail, has been ordered released on Monday by Bangladesh’s leader Mohammed Shahabuddin. Following aggressive turmoil, the defense took control of the government, and Sheikh Hasina, her archrival, was ousted.
The release of Zia, who belongs to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( BNP ), was decided during a meeting led by Shahabuddin. The president’s press team stated, “decided unanimously to free Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( BNP ) chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia immediately”.
The conference was attended by military commander General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the eyes of the navy and air force, and top officials of many opposition parties, including the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. Additionally, it was decided to release all those who had been detained in new student protests.
The statement continued,” The meeting has also decided to release all the people who have been detained while conducting student protests.”
General Waker announced earlier that day that Hasina had resigned and that a temporary state would quickly be established on condition television.
” The meet decided to form an interim federal immediately”, the statement added.
Hasina has been attempting to halt demonstrations throughout the country against her state since early July. She fled the country after nearly 100 people died as a result of violent upheaval on Sunday.
Zia, 78, is in bad health and has been confined to a doctor since receiving a 17-year bone sentence in 2018.
