A passenger was airlifted and hospitalized after a small airplane crashed at the Jamestown Airport in New York on Monday morning. The airplane crash also sparked a fire at the airport.

According to The Post-Journal, Monday’s plane crash took place at roughly 10:15 a.m. The outlet reported that a medical evacuation team responded to the plane crash just after 11:00.

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, by Raws Alerts shows fire and smoke erupting from the remains of the plane crash as multiple emergency crews worked to suppress the fire and rescue the two individuals on the plane.

In a post on Facebook, the Falconer Fire Department wrote, “Initial reports indicate the 2 souls on-board were accounted for. One person has been flown to a local trauma center.”

WBEN reported that the passenger was airlifted to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, New York. Meanwhile, The Post-Journal reported that firefighters used deployed portable ponds to extinguish a fire that was caused by the plane crash.

Journalist Michael Schwartz shared pictures of the plane involved in Monday’s crash, identifying the aircraft as a Cessna Citation X. Schwartz cited Chautauqua County officials who said the two individuals on the plane “miraculously walked away from this plane crash alive.” Schwartz added that both of the individuals were taken to the hospital following the crash.

Chautauqua Co. authorities say the pilot & co-pilot miraculously walked away from this plane crash alive here in Jamestown. Both in the hospital.

Sharing an update on Monday afternoon alongside a picture of the plane crash, Raws Alerts tweeted, “Officials are reporting that that the aircraft took off from Dunkirk Airport, headed to Florida, when it lost electrical power. The pilot was reportedly able to land the Citation at Jamestown Airport, and everyone exited the plane before it burst into flames. According to a photo, the aircraft appears to be a possible private jet.”

According to The Post-Journal, Monday’s plane crash is the second incident at the Jamestown Airport in the last 14 months. In June of 2023, a small plane crashed into a wooded area near the airport after performing a pair of touch-and-go landings. The crash resulted in the death of 52-year-old Roger Ryall and 52-year-old David Hughes.
