On Saturday night, a Falcon 9 rocket safely launched from Cape Canaveral and launched a load of 21 Starlink satellites into orbit. Among these satellites, 13 are equipped with direct-to-cell capacity, marking the 187th release of the agency’s Starlink internet switch satellites.
These satellites are designed to provide communication in high-latitude areas that are n’t traditionally served by geosynchronous satellites.
With this latest release, the total amount of Starlinks launched has reached 6, 854, with 6, 239 of them believed to be functional due to Saturday’s goal, according to area researcher Jonathan McDowell.
On Sunday, SpaceX intends to launch two more launch. 23 more Starlinks may be launched into orbit at the Kennedy Space Center as part of one mission.
The second release will take place at California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base, with the goal of placing Norway Space’s baby Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission switch stations in a very elliptical orbit.
