In the middle of junta soldiers ‘ and resistance forces ‘ fighting, an anti-junta militia seizes two Chinese-invested joint ventures in two regions of Myanmar, causing uncertainty about the operation’s viability.

The Tagaung Taung copper mine in Sagaing and the Alpha Cement shop in Mandalay were both taken over by two separate People’s Security Forces in July.

Junta troops attacked the cement factory, about 30 kilometers ( 19 miles ) north of the junta’s Central Command, and tried to burn down buildings inside the compound while fleeing a successful assault by the Mandalay People’s Defense Force militia, Myanmar Now reported. &nbsp,

The government has conducted normal airstrikes on the concrete flower, owned by Myanmar’s Myint Investment Group and&nbsp, and China’s Anhui Conch Cement Co., since military forces capturing it, the statement said.

A People’s Defense Force in northern Myanmar’s Sagaing place took over a big Chinese-backed nickel-production plant&nbsp, from coup forces in July without a fight on the borders between Mandalay country’s Thabeikkyin town and Sagaing country’s Tigyaing township, Myanmar Then said in another report.

About 60 coup soldiers and police abandoned 64 weapons and ammunition at&nbsp, the Tagaung Taung plant substance and left, Nay Phone Latt, official of the Prime Minister’s Office of the dark National Unity Government, or NUG, told Radio Free Asia. &nbsp,

He claimed that the NUG is now in charge of the factory’s and its workers ‘ health.

The junta is almost four years into a civil war that is n’t going to stop as the junta is losing ground to People’s Defense Forces, or PDFs, loyal to the NUG and allied ethnic armed groups.

Social scientist Than Soe Naing said the happenings also indicate that the junta is unable to completely protect Chinese-invested projects in Myanmar and that further debate may be on the horizon between Beijing and the NUG.

China will have to decide whether to protect its interests in Myanmar by relying on the military government or the PDFs and racial armed forces, he said. &nbsp,

The NUG has no issued guidelines for the two companies to cease businesses, and they are able to maintain ordinary activities, despite the battle, said Nay Phone Latt.

The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar indicated that it would look into the state of the companies that the PDFs had taken, but it did not respond to RFA’s request for comment.

On July 25, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, stated at a regular press event in Beijing that issues in Myanmar does not affect Chinese tasks, businesses, or the safety of Chinese citizens.

According to Nay Phone Latt, the NUG does not recognize businesses that were established under agreements with the State Administration Council, the ruling junta’s official title, but rather those that had with agreements entered into by previous governments.

He further explained that foreign businesses operating in Myanmar has paid taxes to the NUG rather than the military government.

The NUG stated that it has a plan of protecting all Chinese-related authorized foreign assets in Myanmar.

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun, official for the Junta, and the region’s representatives for Mandalay and Sagaing did not respond to requests for comment.
