Republican governor of Minnesota Tim Walz “misspoke” about carrying “weapons of combat” in battle, a Kamala Harris national campaign director told CNN on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Harris ‘ plan received immediate attention after Harris shared an older video tape of Walz describing his position on weapons shortly after Harris named her 2024 running mate next year. Walz, who served for 24 years in the Army National Guard, advocated for expanding history checks, preventing federal gun carry equality, and limiting exposure to some “weapons of war” he deemed “weapons of battle.”

” We is make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in battle, is the only place where those weapons are at”, Walz continued.

The Minnesota president’s reference to carrying arms “in war” ran short of some spectators, who accused him of lying about his company history. Walz served in the military without ever seeing conflict or going to a battle zone. While he probably carried a company weapons in education settings, there’s no indication he’s actually fired shots in frustration.

Previous President Donald Trump’s running, Sen. J. D. Vance (R-OH), joined in criticizing the Minnesota government for his remarks about his company history.

Last week, Vance told reporters that “he has not spent a day in a fight zone.”

Vance, who served in the U. S. Marine Corps and deployed to Iraq in a non-combat position, said,” I’d be afraid if I was him and I lied about my military assistance like he did”.

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA ), another Marine veteran-turned-lawmaker, defended Walz against Vance’s attacks, and accused the Republican vice presidential candidate of “denigrating the men and women who honorably serve our country”.

” In making the case for why weapons of war should never be on our streets or in our schools, the Governor misspoke”, Harris-Walz campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt told CNN on Saturday. He handled dangerous weapons of war, according to Donald Trump and JD Vance, who place our children first and foremost in the hands of the gun lobby. He also believes that only military personnel who are trained to have those deadly weapons should be able to access them.
