    Harris campaign editing news headlines in her favour within Google search ads: Report

    According to an Axios report, Kamala Harris ‘ campaign has been editing news stories in Google ads in the lead-up to the US presidential election.
    Google asserted that the advertisements in issue do no contravene its standards. However, some ads appeared to be missing the necessary statements when they were displayed due to a complex topic in Google’s Ad Library.
    Election advertisers are required to pass an identity check, and we strongly display in-ad disclosures that obviously indicate who paid for the advertisement, according to a Google spokesman.
    A Guardian spokesman described the campaign as” While we understand why an organization may wish to coincide itself with the Guardian’s trusted product, we need to make sure it is being used properly and with our permission.” For more details about this process, we’ll get reaching out to Google.
    Representatives from companies like CNN, USA Today, and NPR, whose connections were featured in Harris for President advertising, claimed they lacked knowledge that their names were being used in this way, according to Forbes.
    According to Google’s ad clarity center, the Trump campaign does not already employ these kinds of ads. But, surveys campaign use of this strategy has been done in the past.
