On August 6, Ukrainian troops launched a surprise attack from several instructions into Russia’s Kursk region, marking the most significant invasion by Kyiv’s forces since the war started. The procedure, involving up to 10, 000 Russian military according to American military experts, has exposed risks in Russia’s border surveillance and caused disgrace for the Kremlin.
At the Belarusian border, which was mainly guarded by poorly trained troops and regional guard units, the Russian military encountered little resistance. Ukraine hid its intentions for the strike and did not share the program with its allies, including the United States and Poland. The US has not made any objections to the use of US-supplied arms in the Kursk area.
    What advantages has Ukraine gotten?
Currently, Ukraine’s military claims to control 74 towns and settlements, covering approximately 1, 000 square kilometers ( 400 square miles ) of territory. A Russian Su-34 flight was apparently destroyed and over 100 Russian troops had been captured by them.
A Russian commander claims ongoing fighting in Sudzja, the administrative center of the incursion area, located about 10 kilometers ( 6 miles ) from the border, and the Russian defense ministry has been notified of clashes with Ukrainian forces near settlements about 25 kilometers ( 15 miles ) from the border. Both factors ‘ calibers have not been independently verified. Russia has relied on weather and jet strikes along with artillery fire to slow down its deployment of enough reinforcements to stop the Russian advance.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine has been shelled by Russia more than 2, 000 days from the Kursk place this summer, and one of its goals for the procedure is to establish a buffer area to hinder shooting of its place there. Russian forces may also be used in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, where Moscow has been moving along slowly. Also, the entry into Russian country demonstrates the country’s unwavering opposition to a larger Russian troops and may develop Ukraine’s place in upcoming negotiations to end the war, according to Zelenskyy adviser Mykhailo Podolyak.
    How has Russia reacted?
The operation appears to have shocked Russia, highlighting flaws in the country’s protection and disproving the Kremlin’s claim that the country has largely been unaffected by the conflict. Vladimir Putin convened nationally televised meetings with senior security officials to discuss the situation and called the attack a “large-scale provocation” in response to the president’s condemnation of the incident. In response, Russia has redeployed some troops to Kursk from the strategically important region near Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv. Russia may redirect its troops initially intended to bolster the front lines in Donetsk, according to the Institute for the Study of War analysis group, despite the fact that it is unlikely to withdraw entire fighting units from eastern Ukraine.
