An earlier assertion that Chicago was prepared to handle tens of thousands of potential immigrant arrivals from the Texas borders during the Democratic National Convention was refuted by a capital standard.

” We at this point do not have any reputable apple that there will be a huge surge in terms of cars coming from Texas”, Chicago’s deputy president for emigration, Beatriz Ponce de Leon, &nbsp, told the Chicago Tribune in a review published Thursday.

Ponce de Leon sounded the alarm in July when she claimed that the town was looking at “20, 000 to 25, 000 persons arriving” ahead of and during the DNC.

This week, The Washington Examiner analyzed status data for Texas’s busing businesses. Since 2022, the condition has taken immigrant traffic to six places, including Chicago.

Cars to Chicago slowly slowed down in May, and since June 14 no cars have flown in from Texas.

From August 2022 through July 2023, about 4, 300 migrants were bussed to Chicago. Visitors ticked up fast last fall, and the condition reached 17, 200 by November.

By New Year’s, more than 28, 000 workers had arrived in Chicago on the Texas cars.

In the first half of 2024, the numbers increased more slowly than the past month. By April, arrivals topped 34, 000 but flatlined by beginning June after topping 36, 000.

The state has n’t made a report on how many people have been transported to Chicago in each of the previous seven weeks.

Almost 37, 000 of the migrants who crossed the southern border have stayed in Chicago over the past two decades on cars arranged by the Texas state government.

The trucks offered refugees rides to particular cities that self-identified as” shelter” areas for migrants, usually Democratic Party-run jurisdictions that do not engage with federal immigration authorities.
