In response to rumors about the installation of a so-called “wall” that might be causing world disruptions in the country, the Pakistani government has for the first day confirmed that it is upgrading its “web control technique” to deal with cyber security threats. Millions of people in Pakistan have been having difficulty using mobile data in some areas for a while because of limited communication.
Official partners in Pakistan have so far neither been feigning misunderstanding in response to the public’s uproar and media queries, or making claims that the issues are the fault of telecom and internet service providers or actually Meta.
Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated to reporters that the government had requested a report from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and other organizations following the disturbance of the computer.
” The computer should never be sluggish.” Perhaps we’ve been discussing introducing 5G systems to Pakistan. There is no denying that, and discussions about faster computer are raging right now,” Khawaja was quoted by the Dawn paper as saying.
When the secretary was questioned about the “firewall,” a general term used by the general public to describe the causes of digital disruption without any recognized justification, she responded that it had “blown out of proportion.”
” The state has been operating a web-management program. The program is now being upgraded”.
She added that she described the entire process as a “routine exercise” to improve computer security, without providing any specifics to back up her claims that other nations have used this system.
Given the computer protection attacks Pakistan is facing, it is the government’s right to take measures to protect its interests.
This was the first time the government acknowledged its steps, which were cited in the report as being responsible for everything from delayed visiting speeds to the arbitrary blocking of social media platforms to WhatsApp accessibility issues on mobile data.
However, on Thursday, people continued experiencing problems in accessing social media platforms, including WhatsApp.
Downdetector, a website that provides real-time details about online interruptions, received an unusually high number of concerns about problems in WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram between 12 lunch and 1 p.
Meanwhile, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court ( LHC ) on Thursday against a “nationwide internet shutdown”, seeking immediate restoration of internet access.
