Brent Clifford, the son of past Creedence Clearwater Revival musician Doug Clifford, has been charged with the murder of his partner, Patricia Portella-Wright, after her remains were found near a Nevada highway on Thursday. Clifford, 55, is also a person of interest in a separate shooting that occurred 26 yards apart.
Meanwhile, Placer County Sheriff’s Office in a X post said,” Today, ( 8/14/2024 ) just before 4 pm Brent Clifford was spotted in Portola by investigators working the case. With the assistance of the Plumas County Sheriff’s office, Cliffford was taken into custody. He’s being held on an energetic permit”.
Officials from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they found what they thought were Portella-Wright’s remains on an embankment off Mount Rose Highway. A drone first spotted her body, and the coroner is still waiting to make a final determination. Clifford has been charged with manslaughter and is not being released on bail at the South Placer County Jail.
Also, Reno police have identified Clifford as an individual of involvement in the death of 68-year-old William Andrews, who was discovered dead in a residential area on Sunday with a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities say Clifford left the scene driving Andrews ‘ dark 2004 Chevrolet Blazer, which was afterwards found when Clifford was arrested in Portola, California, by a group of soldiers from the Reno Police Department, Placer County, and Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.
Clifford’s parents, Doug Clifford, co-founded Creedence Clearwater Revival with John and Tom Fogerty, and Stu Cook. The band is renowned for its heartland rock and politically conscious lyrics, and they have produced a number of critically praised and highly effective albums since the Vietnam War. Their 1969 hit” Fortunate Son” was added to the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry in 2013 for its cultural and historical importance.
Between 1959 and 1972, the band continued to play until a few sporadic meetings in the 1980s before being forced to quit due to personal conflicts and legal problems. Direct singer John Fogerty refused to play with Clifford or Cook when the team was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, bringing on the lingering tensions between the group members.
