According to a new study, the number of sexual assaults in the US government is “likely two to four times higher than standard state estimates.”

According to the review, which was conducted by Brown University’s Watson Institute’s Costs of War Project, researchers compared sexual abuse quotes in the U.S. military’s statistics since 2001.

Scientists stated,” During and beyond the 20 times of the post-9/11 war, independent data suggest that true sexual assault occurrence is two to four times higher than DoD calculations — 75, 569 cases in 2021 and 73, 695 circumstances in 2023″.

According to the study, the Department of Defense estimates that there were almost 35, 900 sexual assault cases in the defense in 2021 and almost 29, 000 in 2023. According to the report, independent studies have significantly higher estimates of sexual assault victims among U.S. service people.

Researchers explained that” this statement highlights a mid range that is two to four times higher than DoD estimates,” as possible producing the most accurate figures.

The Costs of War Project’s investigation, according to NBC News, comes a year after the Pentagon released a document showing an increase in sexual assault rates at the three martial schools from 2021 to 2022. Additionally, a Congressional Research Service statement from 2021 noted that evidence that the majority of sexual assault cases in the U.S. war are never reported.

According to a study by The Cost of War Project, the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War gave the U.S. army a preference for military readiness over sexual assault and other military-related problems. The research stated,” On regular, over the course of the war in Afghanistan, 24 percent of active-duty people and 1.9 percent of active-duty men experienced sexual assault”.

According to the Secretary of the Army, going to war has prevented the defense from institutionalizing the country’s terrible historic epidemic of sexual assault, according to researchers.

A Defense Department spokesman responded to the statement by saying it would be inappropriate to “reply to the technique of studies that the Department has no conducted.”

The spokesperson stated that the department is making” continuous progress” in creating solid command environments, preventing sexual assault, assisting victims of sexual assault in recovery, and holding alleged criminals held accountable. &nbsp,” Physical violence will not be tolerated, condoned, or ignored within our rates. &nbsp, All we are doing in this area is focused on helping us create profound, significant change”.
