Dr Ishwari Prasad, an 84-year-old Indian-American doctor from Florida, is facing disciplinary action after a colon incident where he failed to respond to a victim’s cries of pain. According to the problem, Dr. Prasad continued performing the process despite the person yelling in agony even though he was not wearing his hearing aids.
The Tampa Ambulatory Surgery Center was the location of the event on June 5. Apparently, Dr. Prasad allegedly started the colon before the person was completely sedated, leading to excruciating discomfort. Due to his lack of reading aids, Dr. Prasad was unable to immediately stop the process because the patient’s cries did not go commonplace, according to US Today.
The complaint also points out that during the procedure, Dr. Prasad incorrectly delegated important tasks to an unlicensed medical technician. The specialist performed tasks like polyp removal and scope manipulation, which are generally carried out by certified medical professionals.
The Florida Board of Medicine has placed Dr Prasad on probation, fined him$ 7, 500, and required him to pay$ 6, 301 in case costs.
He is also required to pass a five-hour continuing medical education course, and he wo n’t be permitted to perform medical procedures independently until he demonstrates his level of competence under supervision.
