In a new controversy, GOP senator Ron Johnson questioned why Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, married on the occasion of the celebration in Tiananmen Square on Monday. Kamala Harris ‘ running mate has been attacked by the GOP for his involvement in China before, but this time it’s about his marriage day.
Johnson claimed Kamala Harris is a radical leftist and that she chose another dramatic communist in an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business. ” The House is going to check it now — it’s very unusual. On the occasion of Tiananmen Square, he wed. He’s gone to China. He’s taught in China. He’s got strong associations to China”.
Republican Rep. James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said Friday he is launching an investigation into Tim Walz’s “extensive relationship with China”. In his news on Friday, Comer cited recent reports from the New York Post and Newsweek that examined relations between Walz and China, including remarks he made about traveling to the country 30 days, some of which were as training visits, and a 2016 interview where he claimed he did n’t “fall into the group that China needs to be an hostile partnership.”

Tim Walz married Gwen on June 4, 1994– the fifth anniversary of the uprising in China’s Tiananmen Square. At the time, Gwen claimed that Tim Walz wished for a date he would always remember. Tim also went to China for his honeymoon. In Foshan, Guangdong province, Tim Walz taught English and American history and culture as part of the WorldTeach program to learn Mandarin during a year spent in the Far East in 1989.
Up until 2003, Tim and Gwen established an exchange program called Educational Travel Adventures to organize summer trips to China for students from American high schools.
The Dems also pointed out that Usha, the wife of GOP’s VP candidate JD Vance, also traveled to China as Republicans attacked Tim Walz over his connection to it. During her time at Yale, she also taught American history as a Yale-China Teaching Fellow at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
