Previous social security minister and former head of the Awami League, Dipu Moni, who also served as foreign minister, were detained on Monday by police in Dhaka, as well as two more murders against ex-pm Sheikh Hasina and a petition calling for the Awami League’s registration to be canceled.
Unidentified scoundrels, however, attacked East West Media Group, a leading internet institution, on Monday and vandalised its headquarters in Dhaka and nearly two hundred parked vehicles of older journalists.
Significant duties were shared by Dipu Moni with Awami League governments. She served as foreign secretary in the next Hasina cabinet up until November 20, 2013 and as minister of education in the previous Hasina government.
Moni is currently facing a situation in Chandpur, her district. On August 15, a situation in Chandpur was filed against her and her stepson, JR Wadud Tipu, for attacking the home of Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, BNP’s area governor.
Salman F. Rahman, Sheikh Hasina’s previous personal investment and business adviser, and Anisul Huq, her former law minister, were the first to be detained in the Awami League. Ex-deputy speech Shamsul Haque Tuku and ex-state chancellor for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, have also been arrested.
Around 2.30 pm ( local time ) was the attack by unidentified people on East West Media Group. A blogger who witnessed the assault claimed that some of the intruders were wearing masks. The blogger reported that around 100 people reportedly stormed the internet group’s offices with hockey pieces in their hands. They chanted phrases, forced open the main wall. Therefore they broke into the office of Capital FM Radio, part of the same advertising team, and damaged furniture, servers, ACs, and other equipment. On the way out they vandalised 20-25 vehicles parked on the grounds. The glass windows and walls of the building were also damaged, aside from this. Kaler Konth, Bangladesh Pratidin, Daily Sun, BanglaNews 24, News 24 Channel, T Sports, and Capital FM Radio are housed in three properties of the advertising team.
