
DHAKA: Although strikes on immigrants have come down considerably in Bangladesh, users of the minority group are reportedly facing new challenges like reported required resignations, threats to leave the country, and prevalent blackmail. According to reports of significant changes in government agencies, automatic body, schools, and colleges, there have also been reports of forced resignations of employees from Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian religious organizations.
Rana Dasgupta, the general secretary of the Bangladeshi Hindu-Buddha Christian Oikya Parishad, reported to TOI that he had received 10 to 12 concerns of minority being harassed and threatened over the past few days. He claimed that his company was checking the legitimacy of the allegations. The attorney noted that there are also becoming more frequent instances of extortion, with minorities being told they will be forced to leave the country if money is n’t received. He, nevertheless, said that there were no reports of any more problems on the majority population’s buildings, stealing of belongings and arson attacks on shrines at this moment.
