
U. S. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., a longtime Democrat representing New Jersey’s 9th District died Wednesday, his household announced in a social media post. He was 87.
” It is with profound sadness that we announce that Bill Pascrell Jr., our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away this morning”, a post shared on the president’s X bill late Wednesday night read in part.
After serving as the president of Paterson and the New Jersey General Assembly, Pascrell was referred to as a “proud brother and life native of Paterson” in a profile on his site. He was also elected to Congress in 1996.
The longtime Paterson resident’s most recent position was as the leading member of the important Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee, where he “tirelessly worked to improve our duty system for working families.”
According to the statement posted on X,” Bill fought until his last breathing to return to the work he cherished and the people he loved.”
The longtime Paterson native Bill “had an unwavering like for the town he grew up in and served ] and is now at peace after devoted his life to our great nation, America,” the statement continued.
