An old meeting with former US president Donald Trump has resurfaced, causing a stir on social media. The Late Night with Conan O’Brien meeting, which featured a moment in which Trump compared picking a companion to choosing a dish from a restaurant menu, has become well-known.
Up in 2004, Trump, who was then popular for The Apprentice, sat down with Conan O’Brien for what started as a humorous talk. However, things changed when O’Brien brought up a significant field from the present.
In the picture, Trump, known for his strong approach, asked participant Clay Lee a sarcastic query:” Are you a queer, Clay”? All was caught off guard by the straightforward nature of the question.
Trump appeared to be accepting of the solution, and Lee responded with a straightforward “yes.” However, Trump did n’t stop there and went on to ask if Lee found any of the female contestants attractive.
” They’re beautiful women”, Lee said, though he added that they were n’t his” thing”.
Next came the time that has sparked new website conversations. Trump compared choosing a spouse to choosing a food from a selection in what appeared to be an attempt at humor or showing his approval.
” That’s why they have menus in cafes”, Trump said with a relaxed shrug. ” I like steak, someone else likes pasta. That’s why they have entrees in franchises. A wonderful world”.
The post, a mix of discomfort and indifference, has sparked a wide range of emotions online. Some people view it as a careless but well-intentioned effort to get diverse, while others see it as an oversimplification of a complicated issue, similar to choosing a meal.
Trump has always been involved in LGBTQ right issues. The interview’s reply came up at a time when the issue of LGBTQ rights continues to be a contentious subject in British politics, despite his frequently confusing position. For the 2024 presidential election, the Republican Party’s innovative platform somewhat removed speech that formerly supported antagonism to same-sex relationship, signaling a shift in tone, but the party remains deeply divided on the issue.
