NASA selected Elon Musk‘s SpaceX to transport the US explorers who were forced to stay longer at the International Space Station due to serious complex problems with Boeing’s capsules.
The US area agency announced at a Saturday news conference that Boeing’s aircraft would return without passengers on board in early September.
According to Nasa executive Bill Nelson, citing the loss of two Space Shuttle crews in the company’s past,” The decision to keep Butch and Suni aboard the International Space Station and take the Boeing Starliner house uncrewed is a result of a responsibility to safety.”
Nelson later stated that he was sure that Starliner would have crews aboard once more. This is yet another significant setback for the Starliner software. An uncrewed test trip of the spacecraft that did not arrive at the space station as planned was a bug in Boeing in 2019.
