Four individuals, including a police officer, were injured in a stabbing attack in Sydney earlier Sunday night. The incident, which took place following a fall in the southern district of Engadine, adds to a disturbing set of knife attack in Australia’s largest area this time.
Officials have assured the people that there is no ongoing risk, and a person who fled the scene has been apprehended. Yasmin Catley, the New South Wales police minister, stated that the attack did n’t result in any fatalities.
The incident took place after a car accident, and police tape from the Australian Broadcasting Corp. flying footage shows two damaged cars being cordoned off with police audio.
Sydney, a town of 5 million, has been grappling with an increase in weapon problems. The state of New South Wales has revised its razor laws in response. Legislation that allows authorities to use electronic metal detectors without a warrant at shopping centres, sporting activities, and public transportation stations was passed in state parliament in June.
In Sydney, there have been several high-profile knife attacks this season, including one that left six people dead and twelve others hurt at a store in Bondi in April.
