The French President, Pavel Durov, the creator of the messaging app Telegram, was detained in France on Monday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to Macron, the president of France. There was no social motivation for this.
The French President’s declaration on the social media platform X marked the first formal verification of Durov’s arrest, which took place almost two days after he was detained at Le Bourget air-port outside Paris. Durov was detained when he arrived in Azerbaijan on a private plane.
Due to the absence of an established assurance, debate had arisen concerning the causes for Durov’s imprisonment. Macron stated in a blog on X that he had seen “false knowledge” regarding France following the arrest of Pavel Durov. France is seriously committed to freedom of expression and communication, to development, and to the spirit of entrepreneurship. It does keep so”.
” As part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the president of Telegram was detained on French soil. It is in no manner a political choice. He wrote on X that it is up to the courts to make their own decisions.
The regional authorities are now looking into the founder of Telegram over an alleged lack of cooperation in investigations into financial and cybercrimes on the platform, according to a police statement to Reuters.
Durov, usually dubbed” Russia’s Mark Zuckerberg”, was born in Russia and holds two membership in France and the United Arab Emirates.
The 39-year-old businessman claimed in April that despite government force, the application should be a balanced program and avoid developing into a “player in politics.” He is estimated by Forbes to have a wealth of$ 15.5 billion.
