Japan is anticipating Typhoon Shanshan, which is expected to cause heavy rain and strong winds, causing carriers and railroads to pre-emptively halt operations in the coming weeks. The Japan Meteorological Agency ( JMA ) has issued a warning about severe weather as the typhoon approaches the nation, according to Reuters news agency.
In the upcoming days, Shanshan is expected to make land on Japan’s southwest Kyushu island, with the JMA considering issuing a particular warning for Kagoshima district. According to JMA, “maximum caution is required given that forecasts are for strong breezes, great waves, and high waves that have not been seen thus far,” according to the JMA.
The storms is expected to advance toward Japan’s central and eastern provinces, including Tokyo, by the weekend.
In response to the upcoming storm, All Nippon Airways ( ANA ), a major airline in Japan, has announced the cancellation of 110 domestic flights scheduled for Wednesday. This withdrawal affected around 4, 200 people. From Wednesday through Friday, Japan Airlines will have to reschedule 80 private airlines. Also, some Shinkansen shot train services in the area are expected to remain suspended on Wednesday and Thursday, according to reports from the Japan Broadcasting Corporation.
As Typhoon Shanshan methods, Japan remains on high alert. Officials are urging people to take the necessary precautions, both locally and abroad.
