Hundreds of American students in Canada are protesting against recent changes to immigration laws, raising concerns of imprisonment, Business Today reported.
These adjustments include fresh restrictions on research grants announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s state, affecting over 70, 000 foreign students.
Growing stress amid fears of imprisonment
Students who came to Canada with the hope of starting fresh lives are becoming increasingly frustrated with the demonstrations. The new regulations have jeopardized their intentions, raising questions about imprisonment and economic instability. Many students are in danger as a result of new provincial laws that require a 25 % reduction in permanent residency votes.
    Kids feel blindsided and exploited
What they perceive as an unjust change in government legislation has left students in Canada for more than a year. Protest president Rupender Singh, who arrived from India in 2019, expressed his frustration.
” They called us below, now they want us to left”, he said as quoted by CBC News. Singh accused the state of misleading the pupils, describing the situation as overt abuse.
Possible citizenship reductions and a reduction in temporary foreign staff
The American government announced a major reduction in the number of temporary foreign workers it accepts, reversing additions made in 2022, which only adds to kids ‘ concerns. This action addresses issues about the country’s growing number of temporary people.
Also, Trudeau’s government is contemplating cuts to permanent citizenship channels. The government’s goal is to strike a balance between promoting responsible inclusion and immigration, according to the Prime Minister.
As we move forward,” we’re looking at the different channels to make sure that Canada stays a place that favorably supports emigration but also properly blends and creates pathways to success for everyone who comes to Canada,” he said.
