Boeing, Nasa executives yelled at heated meetings over how to bring back astronauts: ‘If there’s failure…’

There were shells of heated discussions between Nasa and Boeing professionals before it was announced Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore did fly back from space on Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The best managers yelled at one another as they yelled at one another about who would accept responsibility if something disastrous fails. A Nasa professional, according to a New York Post operative, claimed Boeing was unhappy because their executives believed Starliner was in good enough shape to transport the astronauts home. But Nasa disagreed. Suni and Butch made an eight-day tour, but they finally discovered hydrogen leaking on Boeing’s Starliner, which Boeing had been aware of before. They will now be confined to the International Space Station for another eight months because the SpaceX mission wo n’t be completed until February.
” But what’s the title if there’s a severe failure? It’s no’ Boeing killed two astronauts’, it’s’ Nasa killed two pilots.’ The Nasa professional explained how they ultimately decided to hire SpaceX, saying that no, it’s better safe than sorry.
Nasa executives at those contentious meetings held Boeing to account for the impasse and held them responsible for being “wildly careless.”
    Boeing’s inside mail to workers
Mark Nappi, head of Boeing’s Commercial Crew Program, told the people that despite Nasa’s selection that no one had hoped for, the priority is still being on ensuring the safety of Starliner. ” We are prepared to take the actions necessary to support NASA’s choice, even though we are aware that this is not what we had hoped for.” The main goal is still to ensure the safety of the team and spacecraft. I have the greatest confidence in this group, who will conduct the similar level of professionalism and dedication as you did during the first half of the mission, to make Starliner for a safe and successful uncrewed returning, the email said.
Boeing and SpaceX compete, and Boeing workers felt unfairly treated after Nasa’s selection, in addition to the numerous other criticisms Boeing is currently facing. ” We hate SpaceX. We talk s**t about them all the day and now they’re bailing us out”, a Boeing individual told earlier.
