Flights are experiencing significant disruptions due to equipment failures at the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ), according to a statement from Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday.
Aircraft problems have resulted from FAA technology failures at# EWR Airport. Please check with your flight for the most recent information regarding your trip position,” the airport’s post on X.
The interruption, affecting radar-related products, resulted in disruptions of up to 147 days.
The issue began around 2: 30 pm ( local time ) on Monday, prompting a temporary ground stop. According to the FAA, floor disruptions are expected to persist until 12: 30 a. m. Tuesday. But, the FAA confirmed that the ground stop has been lifted, and airlines are now arriving and departing as scheduled.
In a speech reported by Eyewitness News, the FAA said:
” Due to a sensor issue, the FAA shortly slowed planes into Newark Liberty International Airport this day. Normal procedures have resumed. For improvements, please visit journey. regulatory. gov”.
According to FlightAware information, both domestic and international flights have been affected by 334 difficulties and 26 cancellations at Newark Liberty International.
The airport has expressed regret for the pain and urges travelers to check with their airlines for airfare standing updates. Travelers are having to deal with this disturbance, especially those who return home from work.
Chris Kall, a passenger arriving at Newark, told News12 Brooklyn,” They initially told us we would land by 5: 15, but we did n’t actually touch down until 6. For those of us with connecting flights, this pause is causing issues.
