A significant service outage that started on Monday at 8 p.m. ( local time ) caused Optimum customers in the Metro New York area. Thousands of users reported problems with their online connections, especially those that were difficult to connect to Wi-Fi. According to DownDetector.com, over 9, 700 users reported service disruptions by 9 pm, with a majority—56 % —experiencing issues with landline internet.
Also, around 25 % of users reported a total shutdown, a visible increase from the first 18 % of people affected earlier in the evening. By 10: 50 pm, the number of people reporting interruptions had dropped to just over 1, 400.
Calling to Optimum reported average wait times of around 35 days, which was also a factor in customer support wait days. However, some users reported being on hang for over an hour without magnification.
At approximately 9: 45 pm., Optimum’s official support account, @Optimum Help, addressed the situation on X ( formerly Twitter ):” We are aware of an outage causing a loss of all services. Services are being restored, but an estimated repair date is n’t yet available. We appreciate your patience as we try to resolve this problem as quickly as possible.
The failure led to widespread anger, with some taking to social media to show their frustration. One X person posted,” My TV and computer are up, and you’re telling me it’s a 45-minute keep AND the contact center is closing. How about you mend my stuff”?
Optimum is still attempting to restore full support to the affected areas as of the most recent revisions.
