Oil prices dropped once more on Friday, with the typical cost for a quart of regular gasoline falling by$ 3.23, according to AAA.

The price of regular gas has been falling for weeks now, dropping from the year’s highest price in April 2024, when the national average was$ 3.611 per gallon, to the monthly average in August, which was$ 3.389 per gallon. The average price for a gallon of regular gas on Friday is the lowest since February, when it was$ 3.212 per gallon.

The increases in gas costs throughout the state has resulted in 15 states having an average rate under$ 3 per gallon for regular oil: Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Prior to the 2024 presidential election, oil prices will still be a hot issue. Former President Donald Trump’s most new business focused on rising gasoline prices throughout the nation. With President Joe Biden deciding not to seek election, Vice President Kamala Harris, then the Democratic presidential candidate, has to show how she will handle the country’s oil prices and electricity costs and how both affect the economy and people’s finances.

Despite the recent decline tendency, gasoline prices have fluctuated throughout the year and have varied drastically between states. Nevertheless, oil prices still remain higher than when Trump was in business.

Below are the costs for a quart of regular-grade oil in and around Washington, D. C. Click here to see the cost of gas in various states throughout the state.

    Virginia

On Friday, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Virginia is$ 3.073. This was a increases from a week ago, when regular gasoline price$ 3.162 per quart. Friday’s value in Virginia is also lower than a fortnight ago, when the cost of fuel was$ 3.34 per quart. Also, Friday’s charge for regular gasoline is considerably cheaper than a year ago, when a gallon of regular gasoline in Virginia was$ 3.578.

    Maryland

On Friday, the regular price for regular gasoline in Maryland dropped to$ 3.099 per quart. This was a decrease from last week, when the average price for a gallon of regular gas was$ 3.223, and a month ago, when it cost$ 3.45 per gallon. Petrol prices in the state are also significantly lower than they were last year, when standard gasoline cost$ 3. 668 per gallon.

    Delaware

With Friday’s fresh value of$ 2.995, Delaware has the lowest gas prices in the Delmarva area. Delaware is now the second position in the area with an average rate for a gallon of regular gasoline under$ 3. Prices are even lower than they were a week ago, when regular oil cost$ 3.146, and$ 3.383 a month ago.

    Washington, D. C.

Conversely, on the opposite side of the spectrum as Delaware, gas prices in Washington, D. C., are much higher than in any other part of the Delmarva region. At $3.461 per gallon, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Washington is also more expensive than the national average. Nevertheless, like the rest of the country, gas prices have actually decreased in the area in recent weeks. Friday’s price in the nation’s capital is lower than a week ago, when regular gas cost $3.54, and a month ago, when it was $3.698.

    Mississippi

On Friday, Mississippi‘s oil prices were the least expensive in the country, but various states may soon be surpassed. Mississippi‘s current average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline was$ 2.755. However, other states, such as Texas, with$ 2.778 per gallon, Tennessee, with$ 2.772, and South Carolina, with$ 2.78 had comparable prices. Oklahoma defeated Mississippi earlier this month to claim the status with the least-priced fuel, before Mississippi regained this position. Does Mississippi also offer the nation’s cheapest gas as of last week?

    California

California continues to be the state with the most costly fuel on Thursday, with the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline being$ 4. 765. Unlike many other states, gasoline prices are increasing in the position. A week ago, a gallon of regular gasoline expense$ 4.666 in the position. Gas is also more expensive than a month ago, when it was$ 4.601 in the Golden State. A year ago, oil prices were substantially more expensive, with the average cost for regular oil being$ 5.484 per quart.
