New York City chief council quietly steps down as FBI probes Adams’s administration officials

The team of Adams abruptly announced the withdrawal of Lisa Zornberg. She had not been Adams ‘ specific lawyer for more than a year and had provided legal counsel to other city officers.

Zornberg stated in a quick statement that she is “deeply glad to Mayor Adams for giving me the opportunity to provide the town, and I firmly support the work he has done and continues to do for New Yorkers.”

In a resignation letter to Adams, Zornberg wrote,” It has been a great honor to serve the City. I am tendering my departure, effective now, as I have concluded that I can no longer properly function in my place. I only wish you the best.

Her departure comes weeks after the phones of various people of the Mayor’s internal group were seized by federal authorities, including police director, Edward A. Caban, who resigned Thursday. Zornberg, a former federal prosecutor in the U. S. attorney’s office, was n’t one of the officials who had their phones seized.

In addition to Caban, a telephone was seized from his mini nephew, James Caban, and some assistants. Additionally, two major advisers to Adams on public health issues were also tapped for phone calls from the public school system’s head, a top deputy mayor, and two best advisers. &nbsp, &nbsp,

The president has denied any wrongdoing and said the inquiries will display he did not commit any misbehavior while the investigations are ongoing.

On Saturday, Adams said in a declaration:” We appreciate all the work Lisa has done for our leadership and, more importantly, the area over the past 13 weeks. These are difficult jobs, and we do n’t want anyone to stay there forever. We wish Lisa all the best in her upcoming activities”.

In the upcoming weeks, he claimed an interim Zornberg alternative may be announced.
